The Blue’s embarked on a thrilling journey to Lewes FC, the very team they ousted from the cup just last weekend. With Lewes hot on their heels in second place, they were eager for revenge and the top spot. But from the first whistle, the Blue’s seized control with an unusually rapid start. Within minutes, Alfie muscled through a crowd of players, deftly slotting a bouncing ball into the bottom corner.
Their advantage doubled soon after, as Theo arrived late in the box to finish off another loose ball. Lewes, however, struck back with their formidable number 9, who expertly judged the bounce on the 4G pitch and executed a brilliant lob.
Not to be outdone, Alfie once again outmuscled the defense in the box, restoring the Blue’s two-goal cushion. The match continued with both teams showcasing excellent football. Lewes managed to break down the left side, crossing into the box where their number 9 headed the ball into the net.
Alfie completed his hat-trick by latching onto a through ball and calmly slotting it past the helpless goalkeeper, making it 4-2. Theo then sealed his brace in typical fashion, smashing a half-volley into the top corner, much to the heart-racing delight of the coaches.
Lewes’s number 5 had a standout performance in midfield, creating numerous chances. However, Sam was rock-solid at the back, and Oscar made several spectacular saves, including a top-draw stop in the dying seconds that earned applause from even the referee!
The Blue’s 5-2 victory not only extended their lead at the top but also showcased their resilience and skill in a high-stakes match.
Player of the match honors goes to our stellar keeper, Oscar, whose heroics between the sticks made the scoreline look far more comfortable. His performance was nothing short of spectacular. Hot on his heels was Sam, whose relentless work rate nearly had him carried off the pitch by the end of the game. Both players showcased incredible dedication and skill, making it a tough call for the top spot!
